Frequently Asked Questions

  • We have had many frustrated parents and kids come through us, and within weeks and months find improved relationships with each other. Angry, unsure of themselves kiddies, become grounded and self-confident. But most importantly, we care. We’re constantly reading, learning, and improving on our methods, to make sure we can be of highest service to you and yours.

And, all kiddies leave us knowing how to read very well indeed.

  • The accompanying question is, won’t the kid be unnecessarily stressed out? Just let them play, let kids be kids.

It’s important to understand that our classes are not traditional “sit down, pay attention, behave yourself” lessons. There’s a lot of learning through play.

More importantly, at this young age, neurons are firing and wiring rapidly. Learning is easy and fun! It is also far easier to inculcate constructive habits of thinking and seeing the world from young, than breaking unhelpful, painful, and self destructive beliefs about self and the world later on.

(That said, it is never too late to grow and improve.)

  • What we’ve encouraged, and gone on to observe from our children is rather than being bored and disruptive, many of them end up being helpful and supportive to their classmates’ learning. Their ability to read proficiency allows them to be curious about course content and other learnings. Bored and disruptive is a symptom of other unacknowledged issues, rather than of “knowing too much”.

  • So many reasons! There’s so much more flexibility in what and how we can guide the kids. Children are very tactile and kinaesthetic. So while we can replicate a little in online classes, there’s still a reliance on the auditory and visual aspect.

There’s so much that children learn from interacting with other children, from body language, to social and emotional awareness and control, to confidence from teaching and learning from another child.

There’s also important downtime in between their one on one contact times with us, which helps cement learning.

Your child gets the attention of both Ms Nicole AND the OG (Original Ga…Guide here), Aunty May! There is beautiful synergy when Aunty May, Ms Nicole, and the other kids come together. Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Online classes aren’t suited for all kids.

  • You get the convenience of an online, and shorter class, anywhere in the world. This has allowed kiddies from places like HK and Melbourne to learn to read.

It is a pared down version of the in person classes, but is still effective in imparting sufficient reading skills; and some level of a growth mindset.

    You save on fuel costs.
